We’ve seen ‘Active’ versions of Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones since 2013 with the Galaxy S4, and now Samsung is looking to continue on that path with the Galaxy S6 Active.
Yesterday we saw leaked photos of Samsung’s rugged spin-off, and today it’s possible the device, touting model number SM-G890A, cleared through the FCC. There hasn’t been official confirmation on what this device is, but based off of the similarities of last year’s model number for the Galaxy S5 Active, SM-G890A, its likely that this is the Galaxy S6 Active.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is expected to have identical specs of the Galaxy S6–the same Exynos 7420 SoC, 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED panel, 16-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front shooter. The only difference the S6 Active might see is a larger, 3500mAh battery over the S6’s 2600mAh solution.
This same device showed up in the Bluetooth SIG database not long ago as well.
These are just rumors, and since this device cleared through the FCC, it shouldn’t be long before we hear something official on the matter.
Do you think this is the S6 Active? Could we see an AT&T release date quickly approaching? Let us know in the comments.
