According to T-Mobile, over 50% of its customers are on their Family Plans. It is said that these plans cover an average of 2.4 lines. The carrier is optimistic that it can add more users to its family plans over the coming months.
The information was given away by the CFO, Braxton Carter. The carrier has been popular for undercutting its contemporaries in the industry and also for its highly disruptive mobile data plans. Although the carrier lacks the coverage areas enjoyed by Verizon or AT&T, there’s no denying that T-Mobile has had a significant impact on the market.
Carter also reiterated that people on Family Plans stick around longer than single line subscribers, which is a valid point and good for the carrier in the overall scheme of things. But when we consider the fact that T-Mobile offers heavy discounts on data for these plans, the number of subscribers doesn’t matter all that much. This has been a rising concern for the investors as well given that the Average Revenues Per User or the ARPU goes down.
