Android News: Bye-bye, Qualcomm? Samsung said to favor Exynos chip in Galaxy S6

The “next big thing” from Samsung, presumably the Galaxy S6 flagship, will not feature the usual upgraded Qualcomm (Snapdragon 810, in this case) chip.

Samsung will be using its self-produced Exynos-series chip in the device, because of concerns that the Snapdragon 810 has overheating problems.

While these rumors are predominant right now, others suggest a separate, non-Exynos version of the device will actually continue to feature the Qualcomm processor. Perhaps Samsung will test both and determine what it will be using in devices moving forward. (80 – 90 percent of Galaxy S6 devices will feature the Exynos processor.) It is also said that if Qualcomm solves its chip overheating issue, Samsung will consider using the Snapdragon chips in the future as well.
